  • Riley -  (F, 20s) She just dropped out of college. Due to the stress of school, and having been broken up with by her girlfriend (whom she also lived with), Riley decides her only option is to move home. She returns to face her mother who she’d only spoken with on small occasions throughout the past couple of years. She is still learning how to forgive her mom’s complacency with her dad kicking her out of the house for being queer.
  • Nicole -  (F -40s/50s) Nicole feels as if she has lost everything. Her fear of her now ex-husband had led her to neglect the relationships most important to her; the one with her daughter, but also with herself. Now that Riley has returned home, Nicole realizes this is her chance to rebuild what she broke, even if that means recognizing and repairing patterns from the past.
  • Riley’s Father - (M, 40s/50s)  Busy with work. He is hard-set in the values instilled in him since his childhood, traditionally so. He believes he is doing the best he can for his family, and in a lot of ways he is, though his thought process of what an ideal family looks like clouds the way he perceives the family he has in front of him.
  • Riley's Ex-Girlfriend - (F, 20s) Though briefly mentioned, she dated Riley while in college. She holds the title of Riley's first love. Despite that, the issues that their relationship had became too much for her to deem fixable and she broke things off with Riley.
