English Department Support

Your gifts create results we see everyday. As stewards of these valuable resources, we are striving to be worthy of investment. When you give to CLA in memory of a loved one, or simply because you care, your contribution is cherished and used to further that most human of endeavors — learning.

Your donation can be used specifically to fund student or faculty research at UAF. The G. Burns Cooper Memorial Fund awards a total of $5,000 in funding for research to faculty.

Scholarship Support

Scholarships, Fellowships and student awards have an incredible impact on our Nanook Nation! We believe that enhanced student aid, through restricted or unrestricted gifts, helps retain the most talented of students.

The English Emeriti Award is established in honor of retired professors who have taught English at UAF and been awarded Emeritus status in recognition of their achievements and years of service. It is awarded each year to the Outstanding English Major, as voted on by Department faculty members in the spring semester. The intent is that this award should be no less than $500, and larger if the fund is able to support a larger award.

Thank you for continuing to support the UAF Department of English!

Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; you are not receiving any goods or services in exchange for the money you give.

"But in reading great literature I become a thousand men and yet remain myself. Like the night sky in the Greek poem, I see with a myriad eyes, but it is still I who see. Here, as in worship, in love, in moral action, and in knowing, I transcend myself; and am never more myself than when I do."

-C. S. Lewis (2012). “An Experiment in Criticism”, p.141, Cambridge University Press
