Workshops offer information for people with diabetes

A six-week community health education workshop that focuses on people with diabetes will get underway in Fairbanks on Friday, Oct. 14.
Leslie Shallcross and Reina Hasting with the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service will lead the workshop, which will provide insights, information, support and motivation to help people with diabetes and their caregivers lead healthier lives.
Classes will include information on planning meals, coping with high or low blood sugar, how to exercise safely, foot care, communication skills, dealing with difficult emotions and other topics. Individuals registering for the class should plan to attend all six sessions.
The workshop will meet on Fridays from 5:30-8 p.m. from Oct. 14 to Nov. 18 in Room 108, University Park Building, 1000 University Ave., Fairbanks. The cost is $10. Register at . Scholarships are available.
