    For the 2025-2026 academic year, the SOTL@UAF program will bring together instructors across departments and ranks who ask students to write as a form of assessment -- or who previously asked students to write as a form of assessment but stopped due to the rise of LLMs like Chat-GPT. This program will build a cohort of instructors facing similar challenges in developing effective written assignments and assessing student writing as a mechanism for learning.

They are all colors, all backgrounds, and all cultures. If I needed to, I could run multivariate analyses to scan all variables and figure out which one factor they all have in common. However, I don’t need high-performance computing or AI to figure it out. I already know; it’s us. We have us in common. We are all bound together by UAF’s mission and our desire to see UAF succeed. That’s awesome. Some years ago, the UAF staff council sought an opportunity to uplift staff, who each in their own part of the organization make UAF run. This led to the creation of Staff Recognition and Development Day.
