Student volunteers needed for Alaska critical minerals summit
Â鶹¹ÙÍø President Pat Pitney and Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks Vice Chancellor for Â鶹¹ÙÍø Nettie La Belle-Hamer are hosting a critical minerals summit. Alaska’s Minerals: A Strategic National Imperative is a two-day event taking place on August 22-23 on the Troth Yeddha' campus, and organizers are looking for student volunteers to assist with the summit.
Federal and state policy makers, development and environmental representatives, and industry leaders will collaborate to discover responsible, self-sustaining opportunities for Alaska to be the nation's guidepost in the global critical minerals value chain. We are requesting your presence and assistance.
We're specifically looking for 10 volunteers who are comfortable with:
- Greeting/testing: to greet guests, hand them COVID rapid tests, and direct them to check-in upon receiving negative results
- Check-in: to ensure guests are registered, and provide them with summit collateral and swag
- Usher/information: to help attendees find what they're looking for, and guide speakers to where they need to be
- Runner/floater: to serve as liaison between volunteers and staff, and assist with additional tasks when they arise (as needed)
Meals will be provided, and volunteers are welcome to join the audience during the speaking portions of the agenda, space permitting. The first 10 volunteers to will receive a really nice Explore Fairbanks backpack.
