Cost chairs the Secondary Education Program and is an expert in cross-cultural education, community resilience and futures, and educational leadership and policy studies.

Cost teaches courses in humanities teaching methods and multicultural education. His research centers on STEM teacher retention and mobility across the state of Alaska.
