What’s Happening?
Why Consider a WGSS Minor?
The WGSS minor at the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks (UAF) College of Liberal Arts isn’t just an academic credential—it’s a pathway to personal growth, cultural awareness, and professional success. This interdisciplinary program examines the role of gender and sexuality in society, exploring topics like equality, representation, and human rights.
WGSS complements virtually any major, equipping students with critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills that are highly valued in fields such as:
- Social work
- Education
- Business
- Health care
- Policy and advocacy
- Journalism
Students often find that a WGSS minor not only deepens their understanding of societal issues but also sets them apart in competitive job markets by demonstrating cultural competency and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Beyond College
In today’s diverse and evolving workplaces, employers are increasingly seeking individuals who are knowledgeable about gender dynamics and cultural inclusivity. A WGSS minor signals that you are
prepared to navigate complex social issues and contribute to inclusive practices in any profession. Whether you’re entering a corporate environment, working in education, or pursuing a career in social advocacy, the skills and insights gained from WGSS will serve you for years to come.
