Multi-scale Modeling

Project Description

We have embedded the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) within the Community Earth System Model (CESM) so that a high-resolution regional ocean can be included into a global climate model. This system is being applied for a number of different regional applications, from the California current system to the Northwest Atlantic to the Benguela upwelling system. We ultimately hope to include biogeochemical modeling as well.
