UAF Faculty, Staff and Students,

As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to thank you for choosing UAF, not just as a place to work or study, but as a place you are investing your time and talent. Thank you for your passion for this great institution.

More than ever, we know how much we rely on each other. We all have many roles to play — as students, researchers, staff and faculty, family and friends. Now, of course, our role as members of a community is even more important as we each have a role in keeping ourselves and each other safe.

The way you celebrate Thanksgiving will certainly be different this year. We’ll be gathered in much smaller groups for sure. But it’s important that we still reach out to each other with a phone call or friendly email. As part of a University that is passionate about respect, diversity, inclusion and caring, please reach out to 5 people this week to check in. Reach out for them but also for you. Don’t be shy to ask for help.

I am thankful for the work you all have done to keep UAF a vibrant University where, during this pandemic, we have doubled down on our commitment to equity and access to education.

Happy Thanksgiving!

— Dan White, chancellor
