Dr. Arleigh Reynolds

Professor of Veterinary Medicine, Emeritus

WHEREAS Dr. Arleigh Reynolds has served the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and service from 2002 to 2024; and

WHEREAS Dr. Reynolds taught multiple graduate-level courses; and he advised, served on committees for or mentored over fifty UAF graduate and undergraduate students; and he co-led a program that has involved more than three hundred fifty undergraduates in biomedical research; 

WHEREAS Dr. Reynolds’ research has focused on human, animal and environmental health connections, solutions to health care disparities in Alaska, and the nutrition and physiology of sled dogs; and during his career he has produced more than ninety publications and presentations; and

WHEREAS Dr. Reynolds played key roles in developing UAF’s One Health, veterinary medicine and Biomedical Learning and Student Training programs, while also serving in numerous other roles; and he has volunteered in multiple efforts to improve veterinary care in rural Alaska and to support and teach sled dog care and training, while also himself developing a champion race kennel;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Arleigh Reynolds for his extensive contributions to the state of Alaska and to the university; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Reynolds and as evidence of the university’s desire that his identification with the university be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Arleigh Reynolds as professor of veterinary medicine, emeritus; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Arleigh Reynolds, and conveyed to Dr. Reynolds on this third day of May 2024.
