Mr. David Mollett
Professor of Art, Emeritus
WHEREAS Mr. David Mollett has served the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1986 to 2022; and
WHEREAS Mr. Mollett is described by colleagues as the preeminent living painter in the state of Alaska, and his numerous solo, juried and invited exhibitions have ranged from local to international venues; and
WHEREAS Mr. Mollett’s teaching has spanned the disciplines of drawing, painting and printmaking, as well as the full range of courses from introductory through advanced, and he has served on more thesis committees than any other current or past art faculty; and
WHEREAS Mr. Mollett is recognized as a scholar of contemporary Alaska Native art; and
WHEREAS Mr. Mollett made significant contributions to the university through curriculum development, the acquisition of grants and his service on numerous committees, and he has significantly enhanced the cultural landscape of Alaska by sustaining a private Fairbanks gallery that has afforded numerous exhibition opportunities for artists;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Mr. David Mollett for his extensive contributions to the state of Alaska and to the university; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Mr. Mollett and as evidence of the university’s desire that his identification with the University be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Mr. David Mollett as professor of art, emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Mr. David Mollett, and conveyed to Mr. Mollett on this twenty-ninth day of April, 2022.
