Dr. Milo Adkison
Professor of Fisheries, Emeritus
WHEREAS Dr. Milo Adkison has served the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1997 to 2022; and
WHEREAS Dr. Adkison has been an influential and well-regarded teacher, a mentor to his peers, and the chair or co-chair of seven doctoral student committees and thirteen master’s student committees; and
WHEREAS Dr. Adkison’s expertise in quantitative fisheries science and management of Pacific salmon is reflected in his extensive and influential research contributions, including 57 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 20 major technical reports; and
WHEREAS Dr. Adkison has served on multiple state and federal technical advisory committees and journal editorial boards, he has held notable leadership roles within his department and on university committees, and he is stepping into a new role representing the state government in interstate and international forums concerned with salmon resources and fisheries;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Milo Adkison for his extensive contributions to the state of Alaska and to the university; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Adkison and as evidence of the university’s desire that his identification with the university be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Milo Adkison as professor of fisheries, emeritus; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Milo Adkison, and conveyed to Dr. Adkison on this twenty-ninth day of April, 2022.
