RE: Change in reporting structure for Sea Grant and MAP
I recently charged a task force (PDF) to provide recommendations on the structure and placement of Sea Grant and Marine Advisory Program (MAP) faculty within the University. The task force was established in response to concerns raised by Sea Grant’s recent site review.
The task force recommended that MAP faculty have their reporting line changed from the Dean of the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) to the Sea Grant director. The task force further recommended that the Sea Grant director report to the Provost or the Vice Chancellor for Â鶹¹ÙÍø.
The Sea Grant advisory committee supported the recommendations of the task force.
Please take actions needed to move the Sea Grant director’s reporting line to you and the MAP faculty’s reporting line to the Sea Grant Director so that the move can take place on or before March 31, 2020. The new placement of Sea Grant outside of CFOS will be reviewed in 2 years from the effective date to determine if the change in structure is appropriate and effective in helping advance the vision and mission of the program. At that point I will seek your recommendation on any additional changes.
Thank you.
