RREA Program
This program is funded through a federal grant from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture, USDA. The Renewable Resources Extension Act (RREA) was established in 1978 to designate federal funds for extension programs designed to assist forest and range landowners and managers in making resource management decisions based on research findings. Forest and rangeland resources include vegetation, water, fisheries and wildlife, soil, and recreation.
This website is intended to provide research and information of use to landowners, forestry professionals and the public. These may or may not have been funded through the RREA program in Alaska.

Many of us buy potted seedlings or, later, pot seedlings we had no time to plant. We buy this material to grow in the yard or forest improvement projects. A question I hear often is, “Should we fertilize or water potted trees before winter?” The answer is NO to fertilizing and YES to watering. Fertilize in &/ces/sustainable-resources/rrea/8230;
