BIO
Leasi Vanessa Lee Raymond, ACEP’s deputy director for strategic initiatives, is a socio-technologist passionate about data ethics and Indigenous data sovereignty. She has served as director of research operations for Abundant Intelligences, the world’s first large-scale Indigenous-led exploration into artificial intelligence applications that support Indigenous flourishing. She is co-chair for the international Arctic Data Committee where she works on data policy and data support for Arctic international research organizations and Arctic Indigenous groups. She is also program manager for the Alaska Regional Collaboration for Technology, Innovation, and Commercialization, or ARCTIC, program to expand capacity in Alaska and beyond for energy resilience and community-led energy transitions.
Raymond holds an M.A. from Â鶹¹ÙÍø Fairbanks in Arctic governance and
has a decade of
experience building software for managing and visualizing Arctic research data. Raymond
is proud of her
Samoan heritage and her Massachusetts roots.
